This paper bring embedded system concept into the research of image collection and display for optic fiber fuse machine. By the support of embedded system we can develop new methods and new products. The purpose is to develop a small and intelligent embedded product. Small and intelligent is the direction of embedded product. It is not only the science research direction, but also the demand of market. Therefore it must be an ideal design project for designers. At present there are two technologies will affect future image application greatly. First is FPGA. The increment of chip density and improvement of software makes it used more widely in image processing. Second is embedded technology. It resolve power consume problem and provide a develop environment that is compatible with computer. Therefore the integration of two technologies will integrate all components into one chip and provide more ease develop method. This paper introduces SOPC technology that integrates two technologies together to improve traditional CPU+FPGA architecture. Nios II soft core processor is embedded into FPGA to realize the functions of traditional architecture. The programmable capability of FPGA makes the configuration of system more agility. For non-real time processing, we can use Nios II processor to realize. For real time data flow, we can use FPGA digital logic to realize. The system use Nios II User Logic realizing the I~2C configuration of the CMOS camera. According to real time collection and display demand of the system, we use hardware description language realizing modules of collection, processing, store, display of the image data.Through the experiment test, we can prove that the image collection and display system realized by SOPC have high stability and well expansibility.
