Home Gateway Based On Embedded Linux Platform Equipment Research And Design

With the development of telecommunications technologies, the application of the embedded computers is becoming more and more popular. The research on the embedded system and the embedded software reaches a new high. In this process, many hot issues arise, one of those hot issue is family digitalization. How family digitalization is realized? Home gateway is the core factor. Home gateway is a bridge to connect the family scale network to the outside network. On the one side, it is a platform on which family users can access different kinds of services. On the other hand, it is a physical port through which the family network connects to the outside network.The research and development of a product is driven by the market. This thesis frist introduces the definition of digital family and the current development situation of it, and describes the necessity and urgency of the family networking, that is, home gateway is a key equipment for the family digitalization.The reseach object of the thesis is designing a embedded home gateway. First, it describes charactors of the embedded system and the research and design of home gateway. For the hardware the BCM6348 is selected. This thesis introduces this chipset and its peripherals device. At the same time, the thesis discusses the software design of the home gateway, from the aspects of linux kernel to applications. In this way, the software and hardware design are well combined togather.At last, this thesis designes the remote management module of the home gateway by using the latest CPE WAN management protocol:TR-069. Based on this management module, we also discusses how to realize remote updating and backup schemes of the home gateway software and the other relevant updatable component. Through the remote management, the maintainability and operationability concept is brought to the broadband terminal field. By remote management, the central office can realize the uniform management, maintenance, configuration and software loading so as to the scale construction and reduce the maintenance cost.
