Digital filter is one of the important contents of digital signal process. This paper has studied several common methods of digital filter's design. Firstly, based on MATLAB, the arithmetic and the design method of digital filter have been studied, and the auto-design software has been compiled. Secondly, the FPGA design of digital filter has been researched. In order to improve the speed of digital filter, on the one hand, From the structure of the FPGA, the distribute arithmetic, the pilelining technology and the parallel-process technology has been studied .On the other hand, From the structure of the digital filter, made use of the multi phase decompose to improve the design. These have been validated by VHDL program. At last, the IIR filter and the FIR filter have been designed and downloaded into TMS320VC5402DSP. Compared with the arithmetic simulation, the design is correct which has been validated, and can meet the request.
