To create more natural and realistic virtual reality(VR) environment, Stereoscopic and 3D modeling technology that can' t be lacked are two key parts of VR systems. This paper carries out extensive and thorough studies on it.Firstly, analyse the image generating procedure in VR and the programming language for VR environment generating桹penGL. Vision modeling technology is introduced, including Geometric Modeling, Kinematic Modeling, Physical Modeling, Object Behavior Modeling and Model Segmentation. Secondly, analyse three large VR development softwares which are VRT, MultiGen and OpenGVS, compare their merit and shortcoming and give two desktop VR development platform projects that adapt to different purposes. Thirdly, analyse Stereoscopic hardware and software technologies. Three kinds of methods:rotations with perspective projection, parallel projection and two centers of projection that are with their difference are reviewed. Based this, we decide to use two centers of projection for computing the left eye and right eye views of stereo pair. Two system based on personal computer and stereoscopic glasses and Head-Mounted Display are presented. At last, the scene modelings and control procedures of our VR projects are introduced. The quick displaying of models: model segmentation technology, fog thickness technology, instance technology and texture mapping technology which are used by our projects to improve the loading and displaying of models are discussed. In control procedures, the methods of collision detection and guide-map that are used by our projects are introduced. Ground on the projects, 3D scene stereoscopic based on VRT and OpenGVS are carried out. In order to go deep into studying stereoscopic technology, we carry out a stereoscopic experiment system based on OpenGL. Via the use of three stereoscopic systems, some factors that affect stereoscopic effect are validated.
