The appearance of the Stereoscopic video changes the people watching habit. Along with the rapid development of stereoscopic display technology, stereoscopic video has extensive application perspective. So it is important to choose an excellent stereoscopic player on the computer.At present there are already some stereoscopic video players, which can only support single display technology or need expensive hardware, this paper is to develop a stereoscopic player, in addition to support some common player functions, the author also designs some new functions like recognizing the stereo video formats and adjusting the stereoscopic video parallax to adapt different computer displayer automatic.This paper first introduced the causes of the stereoscopic vision and researched the stereoscopic display technology. On this base, a stereoscopic player based on computer was developed. To improve the efficiency, the author chooses the open source VLC media player to develop the three-dimensional video module. Because of the strong function of the VLC, this paper focused on researching the VLC framework and video output layer technology, how to design the stereo video module based on VLC, discussed three-dimensional video formats, the key techniques and problem are emphasized. And also optimize the VLC interface.In this thesis, the author introduced parallax and the binocular stereo vision system, discussed the parallax principles and characteristics. Design and implement the binocular parallax adjustment function. And at different computer monitor the stereoscopic player will adjust the best adaptive parallax to reveal the best stereo effect. At the end of this dissertation, one’s own view about direction of improvement and father work for deeply research on stereoscopic video was put forward.
