There are disadvantages exist in traditional way of examination, such as the way to given a set of test paper is rigid.It cost a lot to guarantee the security of the paper and grading it. And the whole system is also not convenient for the examine. Aim to solve the problems which mentioned above, and to make the procedure of examination safer, easier, and more automatically, this thesis manage to design an online examination system. With the development of the society, examination is more frequency and flexible, and the system mentioned in this paper will stand out because of its strong adaptability.Because of the characteristics of the system, thesis decides to take B/S as the basic architect of the system, and also expound the technology which support the process of building the system. The technology including J2 EE, Spring, Struts, Hibernate which were famous knowing as SSH. Thesis also make a brief introduce to database technology.Then the thesis analysis the system`s demand, including functional requirements and performance requirements. Base on demand analysis, this paper partition the system into modules and design the database. Main modules including user registration, user login, online test, examination management, automatic marking, query results, user management, message board. And the main tables in database are students table, administrator table, choice table, judge table, fill_in_blank table, result table. And after a detail demand analysis, the thesis make a more specific design and realize the whole system, include the database.At last, the thesis test the system, and the function the system suppose to be fullfil has performed perfectly.
