Established in1November2011, The Bund positioned as "the most influential news weekly in Yangtze River Delta", advocating credibility and rationality. After the two revisions in2003and2005, The Bund switched from a news weekly to a lifestyle weekly, occupying the market through original and exclusive one on one interview to celebrity. In November2011, The Bund had the brand new revision and made clear the "smart" position:"newspaper+magazine","news+star", putting forward the slogan "be the best lifestyle weekly in China" for the first time. The Bund can’t achieve the success in both market and audiences without the cover story, which is the most the important story that can highlight the editorial idea, market position and the level of newsroom. After The Bund’s latest revision in November2011, did the topic of cover story keep consistent with "smart" position? Or were these topics best choices? This thesis tries to solve the problems through the analysis of108cover stories of The Bund (from November2010, one year before its latest revision, to December2012, one year after its latest revision) from4aspects:whether the cover keeps same with the content; how many cover stories are original; the number people on cover; how many international topics and local topics respectively. From the results we can see after the latest revision, The Bund got progress on keeping the consistency between cover and content, and improving originality. But it prefers celebrity, especially international movie stars too much. Also, The Bund should achieve better balance between people cover story and featured cover story, and international topics and local topics.According to the results, the writer suggested:keep the topic tight down to "smart" position; improve the matching degree between cover and content and avoid "consuming" stars too much; lay stress on planning topics to highlight the two strengths:original report and reports on documentary photographers; balance the international topics and local topics.
