Music is an abstract art of fulling feelings and colors;competitors are exist for reality byplaying the role of general population; and television can be the medium which is the mostinclusive medium;therefore, there will be an indispensable force with the combination of music,competitors and television. Hunan satellite TV’“Super Girls” started the trend of music TV showof China and created the wonders of TV ratings in2004.In2012,“The Voice of China” set offthe craze of making music reality TV show of our country again. Throughout the history ofmusic reality TV show, however, it was lack of systematical and comprehensive investigation onit. So, it has important practical significance to pay attention to analysis the development ofmusic reality TV show and discuss its healthy development has.Firstly, this article made a basic introduction of music reality TV show including conceptdefinition and composition, and inductive its ontology from the following two aspects: comparing with the initial stage of the music talent show, and its social function, which laid thefoundation work for the preliminary understanding.Secondly, with “The voice of China” as a dividing line, the development of early stages ofmusic reality TV show was divided into two stages: boom, silence by the article,then explainedthe reasons of boom and the problems in its development. This illustrated the developmentprocess of early stages of music reality TV show.Thirdly, The article choose “The voice of China” as the representative sample of musicreality TV show and gave intensive exploration on the following:adapting for the country;returning to the music essence; using the narrative strategy; Integrating marketingcommunications;guiding the mainstream values, which is in order to analysis the furtherdevelopment of music reality TV show.Finally, the author made further summary and reflection about music reality TV showthrough the appearance of the development of “The voice of China”.We expect that music reality TV show will have been scheming and working forself-advancement in the process of summing up the experience and lessons.I’m looking forward to learning the existing research results, and combing the psychologyof audience theory, television designing theory, narratology theory and so on to analysis thedevelopment of music reality TV show systematically with the practical case. I hope that it willprovide the beneficial reference for the sustainable development of music reality TV show.
