【Objective】: To measure serum ghrelin and plasma somatostatin before the treatment with acid inhibited medication in peptic ulcer patients and to study their synthesis and secretion as well as the correlation between the two.【Methods】: Obtain from The first affiliated hospital of Jiamusi university for 26 cases of gastric ulcer (GU) patients(female 9,male 17 people, age 18 years to 69 years with an average 44.88±14.07),26 cases of duodenum ulcer(DU) patients (female 12,male 14,age 16 years to 70 years with an average 42.62±12.96),22 cases of chronic gastritis(CG) patients (female 9,male13,age 30 years to 72 years with an average 51.23±11.88),15 cases of healthy volunteer blood donation(N)( female 7,male 8 age 22 years to 65 years with an average 41.87±13.21) .We detected the serum ghrelin and plasma somatostatin levels respectively by ELISA method and RIA.【Results】:①The serum ghrelin level was gastric ulcer(GU): (3.80±1.38)ng/mL, duodenum ulcer(DU):(4.14±1.05)ng/mL,chronic gastritis(CG):(3.28±1.00)ng/mL, healthy volunteer(N):(2.98±0.70)ng/mL.DU and GU is significantly higher than the N level(p<0.05);DU is higher than the CG(p<0.01).②The plasma somatostatin level was GU:(48.19±16.07)pg/mL,DU: 31.93(16.85-89.51)ng/mL,CG: 38.24(17.42-84.73)ng/mL,N: 26.34(17.68-50.72)pg/mL. GU,DU,CG are significantly higher than the N level (p<0.05);GU is significantly higher than the DU(p<0.05).③The correlation between ghrelin and somatostatin.GU:r=0.445(p<0.05),DU: r=0.462(p<0.05), N :r=0.725 (p<0.01).【Conclusion】: The serum ghrelin and plasma somatostatin levels in peptic ulcer are significantly higher, which is related to peptic ulcer development, and there is some correlation between the two in PU and N.
