Professor Wang Chuijie has been engaged in clinical and scientific research of treating digestive system diseases with combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine for over twenty years. He has carried out detailed and systematic research on the chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and accumulated abundant experience. He points out the disease position of CAG and precancerous lesion of gastric cancer (PLGC) is spleen and stomach and that the main causes are improper diet and internal injury by excessive emotions. The occurrence of the disease is related with more than one organ, especially the liver. The main pathogenesis is spleen deficiency and stomach heat. Spleen deficiency is the Ben, i.e. the fundamental aspect of the disease, while the Qi-stagnation, blood stasis and heat-toxin are the incidental aspects which called Biao. Moreover, there is causality and interrelationship between Biao and Ben. In the aspect of treatment, professor Wang sums up the therapeutic principle as strengthening spleen and clearing heat, regulating Qi and activating blood according to the clinical manifestations and pathological characteristics of CAG and PLGC. He has researched and formulated"Weiyan Kang"serial prescriptions and proved that Chinese herbal compound has prominent effect on inhibiting and reversing atypical hyperplasia of gastric mucosal epithelial cells.
