Background: The mortality of stroke is very high, and too many people become disabled because of stroke every year, it takes too much dollars of society. Blood stasis syndrome(BSS) is one of the main mechanisms of stroke, and the method of activating the circulation to dissipate blood stasis is one of the main therapeutics. There are two very important mechanisms to result in stroke. The first is atherothrombosis, and the second is embolism. It has been documented that carotid atherosclerosis is one of the independent risk factors for stroke. Our study is going to detect the association between carotid atherosclerosis and BSS. Methods: We enrolled 151 volunteers who met both the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 117 of which were patients with cerebral infarction, and the last were matched controls.
