Objective: To observe the respiratory chain complexes activities and the deficiency of mitochondrial DNA in hearts of aged rats with spleen Yang defiency sysdrome.Methods: The animal model was established in composite factors. Animal experiments with enzyme kinetics and PCR(polymerase chain reaction) technique were conducted.Result: The respiratory chain complexes activities in hearts of aged rats with spleen Yang deficiency syndrome were less than that of normal group. The deficiency of mitochondrial DNA in hearts of aged rats with spleen Yang defiency sysdrome was more than that of normal group.The nourishing Yang group has a improvement in the respiratory chain complexes activities and the deficiency of mitochondrial DNA in hearts of rats.Conclusion: The respiratory chain complexes activities in hearts of aged rats with spleen Yang defiency sysdrome decrease and the deficiency of mitochondrial DNA in hearts and brains of rats with spleen Yang defiency syndrome increase. The nourishing Yang can promote the respiratory chain complexes activities and lower the deficiency of mitochondrial DNA in hearts of rats.
