Luteal phase deficiency is that the corpus luteum grows unhealthily and can not excrete enough progesterone after ovulating or the corpus luteum degenerates prematurely, which causes some diseases such as irregular menses,sterility in female,early abortion,or early abortion repeatedly or premenarche syndrome,etc. There is no record of "LPD"in TCM,but according to its clinical appearance it can be ascribed to "sterility in female ", "irregular menses", "metrorrhagia and metrostaxis"and"habitual abortion",etc.According to the knowledge of gynecology of TCM,many factors such as the disturbance of sentiment,exogenous pathogenic factors,living and body constitution can cause the dysfunction of the Kidney , the Liver, the Spleen , qi and blood and Chongren. Its therapeutic methods include syndrome or disease differentiation and treatment , special recipe of TCM , herbal therapy on artificial menstrual cycle , combined treatment of TCM and western medicine , acupuncture therapy. According to the konwlege and clinic practice of present gynecology of TCM and western medicine,many people take considerable empirical studiees and clinical researches about LPD. Its treatment of western medicine focuses on stimulating luteal phase and promoting ovlation.The author summarizes the advancement of reseaches of TCM and western medicine about LPD in last 10 years through refering a lot of literatures.And there is introduction of my professor'cognition about the causes of disease and pathogenesis about LPD and clinical experience in the treatment of LPD,through the analysis of the literatures the author pionts out sone problems during research and development in the futhure at the last part of this report.
