Objective To compare the effects of target controlled infusion ( TCI ) of remifentanil and / or propofol on analgesic artificial abortion . Methods Sixty ASA ( American society of anesthesiologists ) I patients undergoing analgesic artificial abortion were divided into two group of 30 patients : TCI propofol ( group P ) and TCI remifentanil-propofol ( group PR ) . The patients in group P were given propofol at a plasma concentration of 6 ~7μg / ml ; The plasma concentration of propofol was set at 3.5 ~ 4μg / ml and remifentanil at 1.8 ~ 2 ng / ml in group PR . The operations were started after the patients lost consciousness ( no response to voice command and loss of eyelash reflex ) and TCI were stopped when dilating cervix uteri were over. Results ( 1 ) The effect of anesthesia was more significantly excellent in group PR than that in group P , ( P < 0.05 ) . ( 2 ) Induction time was significantly shorter in group PR ( 78±23.4 s ) than in group P ( P < 0.05 ) , the total amounts of propofol were much significantly fewer in group PR ( 1.79±0.38 mg / kg ) than in group P ( P < 0.01 ) ; ( 3 ) There was not moving restless and excitability during recovery from anesthesia in group PR , but the percentage was 56.67 % for moving restless and 50% for excitability in group P ( P < 0.01 ) ; ( 4 ) In two groups after anesthesia : Blood pressure was much significantly lower ( P < 0.01 ) with the minimum while dilating cervix uteri , then it rose again quickly and went up what it was before anesthesia when aspirating by negative press( P > 0.05 ) , BIS ( bispectral index ) was significantly lower ( P < 0.01,P < 0.05) with the minimum while aspirating by negative press , then it rose again gradually . Conclusion Analgesic artificial abortion of anesthesia with TCI remifentanil-propofol is more superior than that with TCI propofol , in which the effect of anesthesia is better , induction time is shorter , moreover the amounts of propofol and the harmful effects are fewer , in short , it is a safer and reasonable intravenous anesthesia .
