| OBJECTIVETo observe the curative effect and safty of Baoshen'gao to treat chronic renal failure(CRF)(insufficiency type of kidney-Yang, insufficiency type kidney-Yin, insufficiency type of Yin-Yang) by point application in dog-days, and search an easy economy safe effective method in treating CRF.METHODSAll 90 patients from the Affiliated Hospital of Hubei College of TCM, conforming to the diagnostic standard, were randomly divided into three groups: therapeutic group of point application in dog-days (Group A, n=30), control group of point application not in dog-days (Group B, n=30), Niaoduqing grains contol group (Group C, n=30). According to the requirement of disease three groups were treated with medicine. Group A took Baoshen'gao point application in dog-days, four to six hours each time, every ten days. Group B took Baoshen'gao point application not in dog-days, four to six hours each time, every ten days. Group C took Niaoduqing grains four times daily, 5g each time at 6,12,18 o'clock, 10g at 22 o'clock. The therapeutic period was one month. Observing the difference of both curative and safe indexes between before and after treatments.RESULTS1 The total effective rate of group A, group B and group C was 76.7%, 43.3% and 70.0% respectively. There was no significant difference between group A and C(p>0.05), while there was significant difference between group A and B(p<0.05), which indicated that the total effect of group A was close to that of group C, and better than that of group B.2 There was significant difference between before and after treatments in the total scores of all three groups(p<0.05), and there was no significant score difference between group A and C(p>0.05), but there was significant score difference between group A and B(p<0.05), which indicated that three groups could improve the symptoms, and group A had better effect than group B, but close to group C.3 There was significant difference of curative effect on insufficiency type of kidney-Yang among three groups(p<0.05), which indicated that group A had better effect on insufficiency type of kidney-Yang than group B and C.4 Group A could decrease urinary protein, increase ALB and Hb. The effect of group A was better than that of group B(p<0.05), but close to group C(p>0.05).5 Group A could decrease BUN and Scr, increase Ccr. The effect of group A was better than that of group B(p<0.05), but close to group C(p>0.05).6 There was no abnormality between before and after treatments among three groups,which indicated that Baoshen'gao was a safe and effective medicine for CRF.CONCLUSIONThe clinical observation indicated that Baoshen'gao had good effect on CRF(insufficiency type of kidney-Yang, insufficiency type kidney-Yin, insufficiency type of Yin-Yang). It could efficiently improve the symptoms, decrease proteinuria, increase Hb and ALB, improve renal function, retard the rate of progression of CRF. And there was no any side effect of Baoshen'gao. Baoshen'gao was an effective convenient and safe medicine for CRF. |
