When we step into the Twenty-one century, the nursing system in hospital has been improved along with the other reformation in our country. While the development and the application of the computer information system in hospital, the nursing management system has been progressed from the traditional experienced management model to the information technology based management model. And some related subsystems of HIS have been created accordingly. In this literature review, we sum up the HIS concept, its logical basis and its technical theory of application. We also answered the current question in HIS and its developmental trend. In this project, we focused our study on the analysis of nursing workload, which is the essential part of the nursing management system. This study includes three parts. First, we gave the purpose of which a statistic method had been used in the study of the nursing workload. It's a new test to investigate the nursing workload with the way of expert evaluation. In its second part, we provided the keen data in management of the nursing workload by using computer information technology and statistic method, analyzed the constitution of the nursing workload and its dynamic alteration. Then, under the current Beijing Union Medical Hospital HIS environment, we designed and implemented a nursing workload management system based on C/S. In this system, we selected the PowerBuilder as a developmental tool, managed the database by SQL Server, and manipulated the data and retrieve the result by data mining. By applying this system into the real world, we anticipate that the working efficiency in nursing management will be dramatically increased and the management of the nursing workload will also be moved to a high level, which be powered by many scientific, informatics tools.
