Clinical Studies Of Acupuncture Treatment Of Hemiplegia Spasticity In Pyramidal District

The effects of needling "Zhuiti region" (the surface projection of decussation of pyramid) on the spastic degree of extremities,the movement of extremities and self-caring ability in apoplectic patients were observed. The Ashworth table, Fugl-Meyer evaluation and Barthel's ADL index were adopted as observation items on the basis of Xingnaokaiqiao(XNKQ) therapy. The results are as follows:1. A better result to apoplectic patients was achieved (the effective rate was 90%) when XNKQ therapy and needling "Zhuiti region" were combined than that of the group only treated with XNKQ therapy (the effective rate was 66.7%). There was a significant difference between the two groups.2. Both movement of extremities and self-caring ability of patients were markedly improved after treatment with needling "Zhuiti region" or XNKQ therapy. Comparison of effects between the two therapies had no significant difference.These results suggest that needing "Zhuiti region" can release significantly the spastic degree of extremities for apoplectic patients, and serve as a useful supplement to XNKQ therapy in the treatment of patients who suffer from of apoplectic sparsticity.
