Edema, a symptom could occur in the various systems of the disease, the most frequently in kidney disease, is an important issues needed to be solved in kidney disease treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine is profound, since the period of Neijing, people had a certain understanding of the edema, later generations also discuss further about the etiology and pathogenesis of edema, and raises homologous ways to treat. But with the diuretics using in the modern medicine, the immediate effect of the diuretics let them become the first choice in the treatment of edema, more clinicians tend to treat the edema with diuretics. Soon after, sometime the diuretics become ineffective, sometime stopping diuretics edema pathogenetic condition will repeated and so on, the appearance of these problems led people know treating the edema with diuretics only through inducing diuresis, a heteropathy to reduce edema, but not fundamentally solve the problem. Although Chinese traditional treatment needs more time than the diuretics for effective in treatment of the edema, but it importantly stops the root causes of the edema besides getting rid of the edema. So research on Traditional Chinese Medicine in renal edema therapy, objective therapeutic evaluation of Chinese traditional treatment in renal edema therapy, is significant.This thesis have three parts:The first part is the literature review. It systematically summarizes the "Huangdi Neijing" and "Shanghan Zabing Lun", these two classics on the understanding and treatment of edema, also summarizes that during the years before Qing dynasty, physicians'developement and invention about the classical theory of edema. The second part is the cases research of modern physicians applying classic prescription in renal edema t herapy. Through collecting these cases that modern physicians applying classic prescription in renal edema therapy, to get the objective therapeutic evaluation of Chinese traditional treatment in renal edema therapy. Through compiling statistics for the crucial elements of Zhen Wu Tang's clinical practice and referring to original text of "Shanghan Zabing Lun", to study how to use Zhen Wu Tang. Results:There collected a total of 129 cases of modern physicians applying classic prescription in renal edema therapy, includes 21 kinds of classic prescriptions, the one most widely used is Zhen Wu Tang,30 cases, also includes Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Tang, Wu Ling San,Yuebi Jiazhu Tang, Fangji Huangqi Tang,Mahuang Fuzi Tang,Zhu Ling Tang,Yuebi Tang,Jijiao Lihuang Wan,Jisheng Shenqi Tang,Mahuang Tang,Fangji Fuling Tang,Mahuang Jazhu Tang,Chaihu Guizhi Tang,Guizhi Fuling Wan,Maxing Yigan Tang,Shi Zao Tang,Xiao Qinglong Tang,Zhi Gancao Tang,Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang. Clinically used to treat kidney disease caused by edema of the most acute nephritis,40.3% of the total number of cases, also includes chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, diabetic nephropathy and lupus nephritis. Zhen Wu Tang used in the people in an edema due to yang insufficiency situation. Conclusion:Chinese traditional treatment in renal edema therapy has certain advantages that can improve the patient's own disease-fighting capability. The third part is the appreciation of renal edema medical records from Professor Lv Renhe in renal edema therapy. Learning the experience of old Lv in renal edema therapy by analysised his medical records.
