| Nowadays, as smart phone's functions are enhancing, it has been widely used in daily life. With rapid development of mobile communication technology, mobile Intenet has gradually penetrated into all aspects of daily life. As the 3G era comes, sharing of network resources becomes a very important part of daily life of people. Therefore, it is very valuable and significant to develop a stable and convenient download management system.This paper introduces the background of the research project, and presents the technical background related to the system, including Symbian smart phone operating system, download management system and the way of remote communication and local communication of this system. Then it summarizes the main objectives of the whole system to be achieved, and elaborated on the general framework and system design. On the basis of correct comprehension about each module's functions and the relationship among them, the paper introduces the implementation of the system. Finally the paper points out the existing problems of the system and the next step of work, and outlines the work and achievements in my graduate phase. Through describing the current situation of mobile Internet development as well as the popularity of smart phones, this paper presents requirements of download management system. Overall, the system plays a role of middleware:(1) As a mobile client, download management system communicates with the remote server; (2) As a server, download management system is a proxy of mobile phone operating system, which provides some basic service as well as download function to other products.Not only the core functions in the thesis have been realized, but also the system has been tested fully.
