Soil moisture can provide basic information for agriculture, meteorology and ecology. Methods of remote sensing mainly include the microwave, crop vegetation index, and thermal inertia. The cost of microwave is high.Vegetation index has a certain lag. Thermal inertia is disturbed by vegetation. TVDI that is a combination of visible , near-infrared, and thermal infrared is used for retrieving soil moisture in Yili bozhou, , to explore fast and accurate regional-scale inversion of the new method of soil moisture in the small arid zone by remote sensing data. Major ones are as follows1)The use of the Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau MODIS receiving platform LD2 document obtained through the program to handle Yili Bozhou region's largest synthetic NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and LST (land surface temperature) in 10 days.2) 8-day composite MODIS temperature product MOD11A2 and 16- day composite MODIS NDVI product MOD13A2 were combined to construct Ts—NDVI space. Every 8-day soil moisture from April 2007 to October 2007 in Yili Bozhou was retrieved by using the TVDI.TVDI is divided into five grades. We compared it with topsoil moisture data which come from 5 weather stations. The result is that TVDI and soil moisture were correlated moderately.So TVDI can reflect the topsoil moisture.3) TVDI was divided into five levels of soil moisture. The final analysis the following conclusions:soil mositure being stable in Yili Bozhou; smaller share of extreme sub-humid areas; sub-humid volatile in terms of their areas; non-drought area of the smallest proportion (14.3%)in October; arid areas larger share; extremely arid areas in October covering the largest (26.3%). Work through more than that: TVDI ways to direct the use of remote sensing data of soil moisture inversion, inversion of the accuracy of medium-related, the method to overcome the existing model must be corrected by the measured data lag issues and the issue of vegetation cover for small and medium-arid areas Fast inversion-scale surface soil moisture has provided new methods and ideas.
