As the rapid development of computer science, network and multimedia technology, the research and application of the image procession have been paid more attantion espacially the video and audio. After the computer network technology, the embedded system has becoming the focus in the information technology field. The video server system had been developed based on above technology, widely used in surveillance, video conference, distance teaching and many other areas. The video server based on dual processor combine the high-speed DSP and microprocessor that has a perfect performance on network and realtime control, creating a new way to implemnet the complex algorithm for the embedded enviroment. The communication between the dual processor is the link of two modules, determining the system's performance. The vedio stream is transmitted form DSP to the MCU by the Serial Peripheral Interface. The transmission is controlled by DMA, while the DSP can continue the video procession in the same time.Based on integrated develop enviroment of blackfin and module of the device drvier, we developed the interface driver programm of the video stream inout and the bootloader. We have done a static test on the system terminal before power on and a joint test by designing the test program. We watch the video collected by camera from the players with different size and backgroud successfully. As the VGA example, the system is running on 18fps at the active backgroud and the size of original video is fifty-seven times than the compressed. The system is running stably, all the performance indicators have reached the requirment of development. It can fulfill the application of the network monitoring and remote netmeeting.
