| At present, the intense social stratification in contemporary China has reconstructed the distribution and flow of the process of decoding and encoding. Journalistic communication style, narrative strategy and frame of interpretation also are adapted to the corresponding change. Furthermore, this paper is to focus on woman in crime news and interviewee's interpretation in such aspects like the presentation of women in crime news and the reading strategies.According to above questions, this paper will make analysis and interview to the topic of "crime news and female", in virtue of the following research designs, such as putting it into interaction between sender, text and audience ,using the theoretical resources of Social Constructivism theory, News Narratology, Communication Theories and Feminism taking the approach of "from decoding to encoding", and utilizing the research methods of content analysis, textual analysis , audience survey and so on.In the first section, I performed content analysis on 256 articles related to woman in the crime news from 1 January 2008 through 31 December 2008.The results show as follows: (1) News reports of female victims were dominant type of crime news, and the most frequent theme was "Violent crime". At the same time, the most main theme was "Economic Crime" in the Female crime news. (2) Different type of news articles focus on different target. There are 57.7% Judiciary appeared in the news reports of female victims and the Female crime news had the most articles with 49.3%. (3) Judicial authority such as police, judges, lawyers were quoted significantly more often in the news, of these, 64.35% male. (4) In the news of female victims, 59. 85% Source were located in the sympathy section. In contrast, 74.18% Source were located in the Criticized section in the Female crime news. (5) Crime news emphasizes the characteristics of women's emotional level. In the news, Women are weak, emotional, in need of help or ignorance and greed, female politicians are no exception.In the second section, this Chapter examined the media's portrayal of woman by the methods of textual analysis to that representative news coverage in crime news. On the basis of analyzing the female images in crime news, the thesis has generalized the discourse characters telling women of media, which is stereotyped image of women, marginalization of female discourse and presence and absence of women. Then, we take the "The case of Meng Chao" as the samples, investigate Media coverage of women's ways and portray of their images. I found that the process of encoding is the process of building fact back up again, by Selection, reorganization, arrangement. At the same time, this process also legitimized discussion of patriarchal ideology. The media has unwittingly become the instrument of ideological reproduction in this sense.The last Chapter makes text analysis of frame of interpretation and the reproduction of patriarchal ideology in details in the viewpoint of Feminism from beginning to the end based on the results of audience survey and the materials of the issue. The findings discovered: Interviewee take a negotiated stand, and that has to do with social status and psychological status. Meanwhile, there is a frame of the ruling interpretation which could be due to an association with Strategy of patriarchal ideology. In addition, under the influence of the dominate discourse, some female respondents take a double vision.In conclusion, On the one hand, in the view of mass media whether the female image is Perfect is still decided by the superior group of the society-the males, from their Point of view and also from their desires. On the other, Audiences are active, but don't break the myth of the ideology of patriarchal family. Most importantly, media influenced by ideology of patriarchal family. The media's recessive discourse hegemony has already become the largest obstacle in the Way of females to their all-round liberation. |
