Zhang Ziyi's Media Image In Amusement News

Based on text analysis, together with the theories of news and communication, popular culture, feminism , ideology and etc, this article has analyzed Zhang Ziyi's media image in amusement news and discussed how it formed and what are the social and cultural factors behind it,in order to learn the ideologies and their characteristics carried by amusement news.With the wave of individualization rising again in the age of global mass media, we find that women's highly awakened self-awareness gives a big challenge to the still strong patriarchal ideology. So the entertainment circle, as the main place where women have higher social status, becomes the land which contested by the patriarchal power for surely. Zhang Ziyi has been described as a lucky, madcap and superficial movie star by distorting positive information, using narratology strategies such as looking over and up extremely and speculating continually. The patriarchal discourse tries to deprive or distort women's achievement and isolate or expel them by the value system of patriarchy. Although women appear much frequently in amusement news, they are annihilated symbolically for the lack of their voices. However, they get chances to develop safely and effectively in patriarchy society by flattering and rebelling against the patriarchy ideology moderately. Obviously, this strategy gives them more possibilities to rebel the patriarchy ideology and also shows their positive attitudes in actualizing self-worth.
