The Research And Implementation Of Storage Resource Management System Based On SAN

With the wide application of Internet and Intranet technology,the capacity for data storage increases explosively,and the request for network storage is higher and higher.The traditional network storage can't meet the need of the requirement on good dependability,expandability and security for Enterprise user.So the new network storage system—Storage Area Network emerges as the time require.SAN is defined as a network where storage devices and server devices are connected together by fast links such as optical fiber channel.SAN can be used to implement integrated management of storage resource,to reduce the management costs,to improve the speed of data access and the efficiency of storage space,and to increase system flexibility and expandability.The sharing of data and storage resource between different types of server also becomes possible.In data storage system,storage management system is the 'Housekeeper' of the whole system and it's directly related to the availability of the data.The high availability and high reliability of the data can't be guaranteed without storage resource management software.Furthermore,replicate and restore is the core function of storage resource manager system.This paper makes some studies on storage management based on SAN by a project,storage resource management system named SRMS.It also makes an in-depth analysis on replicate restore technology and completed the design and implementation of Replication Restore Management module.SRMS can run on multi-platform: Windows,Unix and Linux.It provides with abilities of strong monitoring,detecting broken down of network devices and separating them automatically,data management,storage resources management,security management and file management.The author attained some accomplishment to put forward following ideas.Firstly,summarized the main structure of Storage Resource Management System;Secondly,analyzed three technologies of replication and restore——Volume Replication,Transaction Group and Snapshot,then introduced the mechanism, methods and details of the implement of the function;Thirdly,the implementation of RRM;Finally,performance testing and evaluation on SRMS.
