Research On Storage Management Technology Of Typical Network Storage System

The storage system evolve from a direct attached storage into complex network storage and from with one disk into many of disks multi-hierarchy and complex system now. The change of storage architecture brings on change of storage management in essence. How to efficiency management all device of network storage system, how to provide changeableness storage service to consumer, and how to assume the availability and security of data, these entire problem must be solve by storage management. For two kinds of typical network storage system: Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN), we discuss how to develop their storage management system based on analyzed their structure and characteristic. For Network Attached Storage system, one common way is remote management based web technology. In which, a manager can manages the system in remote by web browser interacted with host. Network attached storage management system based Linux operation system have been set up by way of dynamic web pages. It can support the management of multilevel redundant array independent disks, the management of share file in internet and user, and the backup and recover of storages data. In actually environments, it works well.For Storage Area Network, after analyzed the trends of its storage management technology development, we can get conclusion: managing the exponential increase in enterprise data requirements into the future will mean extending current SAN management infrastructures to a new level of management commonly known as Storage Area Management (SAM).
