With the development of Internet, the real-time service being appliedincreasingly on internet, the more and more IP service will be developed in IPnetwork, because the network lack efficient managie instrument of flux and networkbandwidth, The network often may happen being jammed. Have no way to provideQoS, at lot of application such as voice and video, the IP technology look like beingunable to do as well as one would wish. higher quality of service is required for the IPnetwork. To resolve the outstanding problems that exist in the traditional IP networkand guarantee the quantity of service, we must research and apply the new technologyto optimize and rebuild the architecture of the IP network in time. The new generationof networks adopting MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching)have the abilities offlexible routing, high speed switching, QoS guarantee mechanism and traffic controlthat make them meet the enterprise customers' requested QoS for their IP VPN(VirtualPrivate Network)applications. MPLS has become the first choice for networkoptimization and QoS guarantee.This thesis studied multiple technologies for QoS guarantee and their applicationsin the MPLS VPN network environment. The main research contents are as follows.This thesis analyzed the theory of MPLS technology deeply, and summarizedthetechnical advantages of MPLS VPN in providing QoS guarantee.It analyzed the MPLSnetwork structure, main components and core technologiesin the network architecture. The work process of MPLS is also discussed. It analyzedthe different layer 2 and layer3 tunneling protocols of overlay VPN and discussed indetail the network architectureand technical principles for the integrated MPLSVPN. Based on the comparisonbetween the MPLS VPN and traditional IP VPN,itmade the conclusion that MPLSVPN has more advantages.The thesis studied the IP QoS service model defined by IETF, approachedthework mechanism that provides the QoS guarantee by combining MPLS andthedifferentiated service model Based on the analyzing and comparing the architecturebetween integrated service model and differentiated service model,thethesis studiedand discussed the combination of MPLS and differentiated servicemodel from the viewof the MPLS QoS mechanism.The thesis studied the function of MPLS traffic engineering to guarantee theQoS.It reviewed the development of MPLS traffic engineering.It studied theimplementationmechanism for MPLS traffic engineering and the work process for thefunctionalcomponents, and analyzed the feature of self-healing.The thesis combined the technical principle and the engineering experience fromthe project of optimizing and expanding Chinese Tietong Gansu branch companyTelecom's IP wideband MAN, the MPLS QoS and MPLS TE solution was presented.AQoS model for the IP wide band MAN was presented,the QoS policy and deployingsolution, and the fast reroutingsolution utilizing MPLS TE were specified.It is verifiedby experiments that MPLSQoS solution can provide different CoS guarantees fordifferent QoS services.And itcan improve the reliability, security, utility of the networkresource and the servicequality of MPLS VPN by introducing the fast reroutingfunction of MPLS TE. to realize the China Tietong guiding principle which is"outstanding professionalization", the much better important service railwaycustomer.
