This paper designs and implements a remote monitoring system over urban street lamp in Baoding based on the sufficient investigation of GPRS-Internet and computer measurement and control technology. This system consists of the computer monitoring center, GPRS-Internet, the remote monitoring terminal and so on, implementing data collection of street lamp lines, teledata transmission, monitoring, data analysis and processing and other functions. The software of the monitoring center is composed of six function modules: GPRS communication module, state detection module, remote control module, ammeter management module, information management module and map management module. The transmission of teledata adopts the communication stipulation based on TCP/IP protocol, which makes the data transmission fast, steady-going and credible and security strong. This system can adapt to the new requirement of the street lamp remote monitoring system with the development of the city, which meets the aim that improving the quality of the street lamp running and saving energy, with high economic and social benefits. This system has been applied in some streets of Baoding, operating normally and with good effect, and it has received unanimous praise of the correlative leaders and technical staff of Baoding city management department.
