It is an age of uncertainty with frequent emergencies and rapidly changing situation. Various unexpected public crises are increasingly becoming one of the main features of modern societies nowadays. It is vitally important for a government to communicate with its public as soon as possible in the course of crisis management.This study is taking the event of Songhua River's water pollution as an example, that's to find out the crisis handling patterns which conforming to the reality in China by using Crisis Situations Theory, Image Recovery Theory of the Organization, and Stage Analysis Theory to analyze the background, causes of crisis situations, and the strategies which the Organization (government and Media) recovers the damaged image, and performance which existing in the process of crisis report. We hope that through these studies, we could carry out the general principle which Media recovers crisis events, therefore could look out the ways of furthering to resolve ecological crisis by the report of Media.The event of Songhua River's water pollution that occurred in the end of 2005 is a crisis, which has a far-reaching influence on our China's society, politics and other spheres. Some deficiencies of our government on public management and public policies, and also some limitations on the operational process of China's press were emerged during the crisis. However, it is fortunate that the successful handling of the Songhua River's water pollution crisis later also brought about certain of reformation both in the government and in the Media as well. In this sense, we can say that the event of Songhua River's water pollution crisis is also an opportunity to our country.This paper's research results have a certain positive significant for series of severe actual problems, that's how government and Media take the impact of crisis over society to the lowest point, and turn crisis into chance, and rebuild the public's confidence, and stable the society after social crisis.
