Along with the computer technology development, the more and more enterprises application realizes by the computer technology, also included the finance, the telecommunication, the national defense and so on the essential service. These essential services request support server for providing 7x24 hours uninterrupted service, which will bring about the extremely high demand to the server high availability. To meet the uninterrupted service need, developping high availability software for domestically produced operating system and supportting the essential service with high availability is the country's important request as well as many enterprises'. The national 863 plans put forward that developping high available software for domestically produced operating system is very important.Kylin Operating System made in our country has its own independent knowledge property right. It unites the specialty of CPU made in our country. In order to satisfy the requests of High Performance Server, Kylin can support multi-CPUs and muti-architectures of computer. It can provide high performance,high availability and high security. Also, Kylin can be compatible with Linux application and device driver in the way of binary. And Kylin Operating System should provide web server with high performance.' Kylin operating system as domestically produced operating system develops in order to positively promotes it to has strategic in the essential service, the design for high availability function software for Kylin Operating System is very important.Based on the above, the paper has studied current High availability technology, then designed and realized the Kylin host standby system. The Kylin host standby system is made up of setting system, failure detecting system,failure diagnosis system,fail-over system,data recovery system,data replication system. The system improved the traditional failure detecting system by using Kylin reliable heartbeat protocol to detect failure, and could at the same time support manual and automatically fail-over after failure,besides this,it uses rollback-recovery method to carry out the system restoration. The system has mainly achieved the goal below: May the simultaneous working, shares the load;Can constructs between long-distance range, achieved the disaster-tolerance; Can monitor the service effectively; May decide the reason that caused failure.
