Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET) is the hot spot research in wireless network nowadays. Routing protocol is one of the key technologies in implementing MANET. In the thesis, according to the experiment system and actual requirements, a detailed description of the design and realization of clustering and routing protocol is given based on the analysis of the network characteristics. At the same time, an improved update scheme for the time to live(TTL) of neighbour nodes is proposed in view of the weak point of traditional scheme.This thesis is organized as follows:The routing protocol which is suitable for the experiment system is designed in the study based on the basic concept and characteristics of MANET. Two parts comprise the protocol: clustering protocol and routing protocol.A detailed description is given for the nine modules divided from the protocol on the basis of functions. The test to the software is carried on by the Packet protocol and the interface. The whole protocol is implemented with the embedded experiment platform finally.A mobility model which is called Gauss-Markov model is developed based on the analysis of several common kinds of mobility models in MANET. According to this model, a detailed analysis of the movement characteristics of nodes and the spatial probability of link connectivity in the model is give from which the improved update scheme of neighbour nodes'TTL is obtained. Finally, the scheme is proved to be available and efficient by the simulation of OMNeT++.
