Research And Implement Of Knowledge Visualization System Based On Ontology

Information visualization is a computer-aided visual presentation of abstract information spaces and structures which aims to optimize the use of our perceptual and visual-thinking ability in dealing with them. Information visualization draws on ideas from several intellectual traditions, including computer graphics, human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, etc. Space information Visualization in GIS and Body Information Visualization in medical are two domains which the information visualization is applied familiar.Discriminate with information visualization, the knowledge visualization is based on the knowledge which has been organized from information. Generally Speaking, knowledge can be divided into layer structure and net structure. According the theories about Information Visualization, the knowledge can be descripted as tree or graph in visualization system.This paper has a research on the theories and technique in Knowledge Visualization based on Prefuse API. The main bodies of the thesis show as following:First, ontology is the foundation which is used to describe knowledge. The article first introduced the concept of the ontology, and then demonstrates it's a good strategy to expression knowledge with ontology. On this foundation, the paper discussed the method about how to construct domain ontology and how to convert the ontology to the format which is suited for the KVS system.Secondly, the paper studied some general visualization methods to express knowledge. The studies include the form and the reference model of knowledge visualization.Based on these studies, the article discussed the framework of the Prefuse API which is based on MVC (Model-View-Control) design model. At the same time the paper analyses the way of implementing the MVC model.The next part of this paper is about how to implement the KVS system. This part studied the design method about how to import ontology into the system. The paper also studied the theory and method about full text search in Knowledge Visualization system. At last the paper discussed the method of developing a catalogue aided visualization program.
