With the development of mobile communication technology and the enhancement of people's requirement to the system of transportation and navigation, the intelligent transportation system appears. The system of vehicular navigation and location this dissertation researches is a high-tech system which integrates global positioning system (GPS), CDMA cellular positioning system, geographic information system (GIS) and electronic maps. And it is an important part of the intelligent transportation system. The main function of this system is that making use of global positioning system or CDMA cellular positioning system to position the vehicle. The location information of the vehicle provided by the positioning system is processed first, and then the longitude and the latitude of the vehicle are applied to the application which can open electronic maps and finally display the real time position and track of the vehicle in the electronic map.The research contents of the dissertation consist of the following aspects:(1)The serial communication between the PC and the positioned vehicle.(2)The processing of data provided by the GPS receiver.(3)The application of the wireless location arithmetic adopted by cellular positioning system.(4)The software design of the component geographic information system. The adopted schemes respectively are: MSComm control developed by Microsoft is adopted to realize the serial communication between the PC and the positioned vehicle. And this method is much more convenient compared with others. The useful data provided by the GPS receiver is picked up by using some member functions of the class of CString, such as Left(), Mid(), Find(), Delete() and so on, and the picked data is stored into the Microsoft Access database by the technique of open database connectivity(ODBC). The location technique of time difference of arrival (TDOA) is adopted; at the same time Fang arithmetic is adopted to resolve the TDOA hyperbola model, and the transformation and translation of the coordinate systems are adopted...
