With the development of computer technique, network technique, multimedia technique becomes the most important component as the information in communication .For example, the digital TV ,network video communication ,mobile TV become prevalent now ,and indicate the progress of our society .AVS is audio and video standard of china with our technique property right.Its poformance is higher than MPEG-2 standard ,and corresponds to H.264.In the domain of video and audio ,restricted by the high expense property right of MPEG-2 and H.264,so it is necessary to develop our video and audio standard .AVS-M is the Part 7 of AVS .for the moving multimedia video ,network meeting and mobile TV .Influenced by the bandwith and fluctuate of the net ,a high performance of video compression should be chosen to guarantee that the multimedia flow can be passed via the network.On the other hand, the capability of the CPU is restricted ,but the speed of decoder should be fast enough .Choosing the high performance video decoder and encoder is the key for success of the multimedia operation. AVS-M have that characteristic,in the front of the paper new video coding technique is introduced .The main task of this paper is to analyze the shortcoming of reference software,design the decoder software of AVS-M,and optimize it . The whole project is divided into the following parts: first to be familiar with AVS, then make the structure and flow of the software ,write the C code and do further optimization with multimedia instructions MMX ,at last test the software. The left part of this paper is introduce the principal of multiplex about AVS ,analyze the contact and difference between the MPEG-2 and AVS ,and write the program of multiplex for testing .With test based on Pentium 4 CPU, the pictures of CIF (352×288 )can be real time decoded.
