From the historical side of video surveillance, video surveillance system can be divided into three stages,which are analog video surveillance system,PC-based video surveillance system plug-in and digital video surveillance system。With the increasing development of science and technology, video surveillance system is widely applied。As the transmission distance of analog video surveillance system is short and narrow range, the cost of the second video surveillance system is higher than others,digital video surveillance system is becoming the mainstream.It mainly uses embedded technology,compresses video images collected, stores and then transmittes through the network.In addition,its cost is lower so that it facilitates large-scale development.The subject of video surveillance system under study is the third generation digital video surveillance system.Its overall program is that it captures the video image by the camera in the front-end monitoring.Then it outlines the overall development program of the system and calls the T264 coding libary to code.Next through the wireless making the use of UDP protocol to transmit to the PC,decoding and displaying.And accoding to the terminal of Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) program it can control PTZ's motion.As to the development platform,the system chooses mini2440 development board based ARM9 processor as the hardware development platform and selects Linux operating system that is now the most popular and easy to cut and openning source as the software development platform.The subject will be based on the hardware and software development platform to complete the work as follows:Firstly,it discribes briefly both the significance of the research and the history and the present of the video surveillance system.Then outlining the overall development program of the system.Third, embedded systems development environment is built according to the overall design,including the cross compiler chain installed,the necessary driver and the Linux kernel which are transfered to the development board.Fourth,it focuses on the software design.There are four modules which are camera video capture module,H.264 encoding module,wireless transmission module and PTZ controling module.At last,the subject tests the whole system,inculding the image captured,encoding multiple,network transmission performance and PTZ controling, then carrying out a detailed analysis about the testing results.For the future making the corresponding to further improve the system.And providing a reference for the development of follow-up program.
