| The Chin Fen Sports Monthly Founded on October 10th, 1933 was the most famous and representative sports journals in contemporary Chinese history. Shenbao used to praise it as "China first sports monthly and a bright lamp". Because of Anti-Japanese War, The Chin Fen Sports Monthly stopped to issue after July, 1937. Until then, The Chin Fen Sports Monthly had published 4 volumes 46 periods as well as existed 3 years and 10 months. Although The Chin Fen Sports Monthly only existed a short period, because that most of its contributors are sports celebrities, the content of this journal was excellent and thus the journal affected widely. When The Chin Fen Sports Monthly was published, it was not only existed in China, but also extended to Europe, America and Japan. Now, after eighty years, The Chin Fen Sports Monthly is rare and nearly all of information becomes the most precious material for scholars to research the field of sports in contemporary Chinese history. In fact, because of the important position of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly, the researches concerning to it contribute a lot not only to the sports journalism history, but also to the whole Chinese journalism history.Based on the reading of all The Chin Fen Sports Monthly, this thesis analyzes the aim, main personnel, as well as issue and sale situation of this journal by adopting journalism, communication and history methods. At the same time, this thesis specifies the contents of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly, especially the sports news. Then, based on the researches of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly `s contents and features, this thesis estimates the position of this journal in the field of modern Chinese sports. The whole thesis is divided into three parts: introduction, body and conclusion.Introduction part presents the academic value of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly and the research situation of this journal in academia. The body part is divided into four sections. The first chapter discusses The Chin Fen Sports Monthly`s main status which contain founding background, main personnel and so on. When introducing founding background, this thesis discusses from three aspects: the sports field situation at that time, the background of the famous slogan"national salvation sports"and the best time for the foundation of sports journals. At the same time, it is known that specifying the founders and corn writing teams in the study of a certain journal is important. So, this thesis states history of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly`s founder Ma Chonggan as well as two main editors Ruan Weicun and Shao Rugan. Based on the foundation background, the history of main team and one part in The Chin Fen Sports Monthly called"journal interesting purposes", this thesis analyzes the aim of this journal.The second chapter analyzes The Chin Fen Sports Monthly `s issue situation. This chapter can also be divided into three aspects: The Chin Fen Sports Monthly `s issue time and issue volume, issuer and customers, as well as issue method. The Chin Fen Sports Monthly is the most representative sports journal in modern Chinese history, so the research concerning to it can make readers understand the development of sports journals in modern Chinese history more. Besides, the issuer of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly"The Chin Fen Book Store"is one of most important publisher in modern Chinese sports history. In fact, because of the employment of"The Chin Fen Book Store", The Chin Fen Sports Monthly adopts lots of sale methods and improves profits. Analyzing these aspects also helps readers to fully understand The Chin Fen Sports Monthly.The third chapter is the analysis concerning to the content of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly. The content is the corn and soul of a journal. In fact, in 1930s the journal content is especially important and the journals without the contents can meet readers` needs always bankrupt quickly. The Chin Fen Sports Monthly gradually determines its main contents in 1934. Based on the content of a part called"editor`s view", this thesis divide the content of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly into five parts: Readers column, overseas sports, celebrity space, expression and sports news as well as specify the first four parts. Besides, this thesis describes sports situation in the modern China in the view of The Chin Fen Sports Monthly because an excellent sports journal can be the epitome of sports field in a period.The fourth chapter introduces the content of sports news. Sports news is the primary part of every sports journal. Although The Chin Fen Sports Monthly publishes every month, which induces that its timeliness is worse than daily and weekly, its sports news interview, writing and comments can show unique advantages.The above four chapters deeply discuss The Chin Fen Sports Monthly and make readers understand it fully. At the same time, based on the above four chapters, this thesis estimates The Chin Fen Sports Monthly as"the top one sports journal in contemporary Chinese history"objectively. Form the first sports journal Sports World founded by Xu Yibing in 1909, China`s sports journal history has been more than 100 year. Today, there are also more than 100 sports journals in China. But most of them are not recommendable. So, in conclusion part, this thesis tries to find The Chin Fen Sports Monthly learnable advantages to help present sports journals. |
