Design Of Heterogeneous Network Storage Unified Management System

Heterogeneous network storage refers to incompatible network storage systems produced by the same company at different times or by different companies. This paper designs a unified management system to shield the interface differences of the heterogeneous network storage systems and simplify the management work.Based on the research of the network storage technology and network management technology, this thesis offers a model of heterogeneous network storage unified management system by analyzing the disadvantages of existing network storage management systems. This system offers a unified interface to user to shield the interface differences of heterogeneous systems'management by adding an adaptation layer on the original management system. The adaptation layer communicates with original storage management system by SNMP or self-defined interface. In order to manage multiple heterogeneous storage systems, we divide unified management system into server-side and client-side. Server-side is deployed in the storage system to manage storage devices. Client-side, managing multiple server-sides, is deployed in the management server to receive the management operations of user. The communication data between the client and server are encrypted and transmitted by HTTP to ensure reliability and security. In order to facilitate the unified management of network storage systems resources, this system use MIB database to express objects managed in storage system. And it uses challenge-response authentication to avoid the security risk of transmission user's password on the network in login subsystem.The heterogeneous network storage unified management system designed in this paper refers theories and technologies of unified management, link security, network management, security certification and fault management. And it solves the unified management problems of heterogeneous network storage system efficiently.
