Purpose: This study aims to observe the clinical effect of acupuncture in the treatment of ischemic stroke(type of blood stasis due to qi deficiency) recovery period.Material and method: 60 patients with ischemic stroke(type of blood stasis due to qi deficiency) in recovery period were randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group two groups. There are 30 patients in each of the group, and they were treated and compared in the two groups. The patients in the control group were treated with the basis of neurology and rehabilitation training. The patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture combined with the treatments for the control group. All of the patients in the control group and the treatment group were treated for 4 weeks. After all of treatments, the clinical efficacy was evaluated according to the modified Barthel index(MBI), the Berg balance scale, the Chinese medicine symptom score, and the Ashworth score. Results: 1. The scores of MBI for the patients in the two groups were enhanced after treatment. Comparing the scores of MBI for the patients in the treatment group with that of the control group, it is found that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment, there were significant differences in scores of MBI for the patients between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05), and the treatment group was better than the control group in improving the ability of daily life. 2. The scores of Berg balance scale for the patients in the two groups were enhanced after treatment. Comparing the scores of the Berg balance scale for the patients in the treatment group with that of the control group, it can be found that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). The difference between the treatment group and the control group is significant in the score of Berg balance scale(P<0.05), indicating that the treatment group in improving the balance ability is better than the control group. 3. The efficacy and scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms for the patients in the two groups were enhanced after treatment. Comparing the efficacy and scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms for the patients in the treatment group with that of the control group, it can be found that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment for patients in the two groups, the difference in improving the efficacy and scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and between the treatment group and the control group was significant(P<0.05). It can be found that, the effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group. 4. The Ashworth scores for the patients in the two groups were enhanced after treatment. Comparing the Ashworth scores for the patients in the treatment group with that of the control group, it is found that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). This means that, the levels of muscle tension of the patients in two groups were both obviously improved after treatment. After treatment, the improvement of Ashworth scores of the two groups was compared. It is found that the difference between the two groups was not significant(P>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in improving the level of muscle tension. Conclusion: 1. Acupuncture can be used to improve the ischemic stroke patients` ability of daily life. 2. Acupuncture can be used to improve the balance ability of patients with ischemic stroke. 3. Acupuncture can be used to improve the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms of patients with ischemic stroke. 4. Both of the levels of muscle tension for the patients in the treatment group and the control group were improved. There was no significant difference between the two groups. 5. Acupuncture is a safe, effective and simple method for the treatment of ischemic stroke. Therefore, it is worth promoting and applying. |
