| Background:Edema, is a common symptom in clinic, and is one of the most common reasons that patients see a doctor. Edema refers to many kinds of diseases, and is resulted in multiple-systems and multiple-organs. It reduces seriously the quality of patients’lives, at the same time, it is an important influential factor after their basic diseases cure.At present, the treatments of edema chiefly aim at primary diseases, coordinating inducing diuresis to reduce edema and remitting clinical symptom, but those can not take great effects on chronic diseases and refractory edema, which results in increasingly adverse reactions and antidiuretic TCM(traditional Chinese medicine), has deeply all-sided studies and cognition for name of edema disease, etiology and pathogenesis, therapeutic principle and method, etc. It is accepted that treating edema combine TCM and WM(western medicine), the effects of which have been studied in many researches, and it has been an important one of treating edema methods.Objective:Professor Du Jinhang has been devoting himself to the study that treating edema combines TCM and WM for near 30 years, deeply understands pathological and physiological mechanism of respiratory metuboism, has abundant experience to treat edema utilizing TCM and WM. The paper is to arrange and summarize his clinical experience of treatments combining TCM and WM, which do good to treat edema by TCM and WM.Methods:Search the cognition for TCM and WM respiratory metaboism, research progresses of WM urinative treating edema, and include current situations of TCM and WM treating edema, treatment strategies, and insisting urinative mechanism. Basing on the experience from visiting patients, warding round of doctor and teaching following Pro. Du Jinhang, I summarize Pro. Du’s cognition of combination of TCM and WM in respiratory metaboism, dialectical discussions and treatments to edema resulting in edema of heart and kidney treatments, common prescriptions and so on.Results:Research documents finds, at present, the feature that patients who suffer from chronic, long, and stubborn edema boycott urinative in WM treatment become universal. There are some studies for urinative boycotting mechanism and treating strategies, but the effects of diuretic are not satisfactory, and become side-effect factor after underlying disease recovering, so that the time in hospital become long and the cost is added. TCM spent long time to research edema. Edema is divided Feng shui flooding,damp toxin spreading,Wet impregnation,Hot and humid indicates sheng,the spleen Yang deficiency failure,kidney Yang exhaustion,On the treatment of freeing lung-qi and eliminating damp,detumescence by detoxification,Did so hot and humid,invigorating spleen for diuresis,warming Yang to promote diuresis and so on. Some doctors conclude and summarize proved recipes and basic methods of treating edema, utilize adequately modern technologies, combine TCM and WM, innovate the methods to treat edema, and take good effects.Pro. Du has been working to treat edema of heart and kidney for 30 years, tightly combines TCM and WM classical theories of respiratory metaboism, doctor works in past dynasties, WM treatment laws and clinical diagnosis treatments guide of cardiac insufficiency edema, and nephritis, dropsical nephritis, renal insufficiency edema and so on, specialist clinical diagnosis consenus and new international progresses, formed special "4 combinations" dialectical argument thinking and the thinking of abidance by triple pathogens run through all the time,they are individuality-concerned treatment, treatment in accordance with seasonal conditions and treatment in accordance with local conditions.Lung, kidney, triple warmer lesion is the basic reason resulting in edema, but heart and liver is located in a very important situation in respiratory metaboism, simultaneously, pneuma, blood, body fluid shift each other in that process, tightly contact, and the whole process depends on triple warmer supplying water lane.
