A Research Of The Conversation Mechanism Of The Talk Show

The study of conversation is a part of Discourse analysis, lots of theories have been advanced on the study of conversation and plenty of Achievements have been got in research on conversation types, such as: everyday conversation, class conversation, court conversation and conversation between the doctor and the patient, etc. nowadays, the talk shows have increasingly popularized and became a special conversation type. In this dissertation we summarize the existent theories, analyze the mechanism of conversation in talk show with a lot of television programs as materials to analyze it's features and laws. The conversation wholly consists of three parts: the start provides context and the pragmatic frame; the words for thanking is usually taken as the end of conversation; body is the main part of conversation, the research on partial structure of the talk shows conclude that the participants embody their characteristics in the control of topics, turn-taking system of conversation and the choice of discourse form. Successful conversation abides by some principles. This dissertation tries to find how politeness principles affect the mechanism of conversation by exploring interruption of conversation and slight derivation of topic in talk shows.
