With the increasing expansion of network capacity, it is more and more necessary to improve the efficiency of the core network and to distribute the bandwidth dynamically. ION represents the development trend of the future optical network, and control plane is the core of ION implementation. GMPLS is used in the control plane, and enhances MPLS with optical network characteristics. The routing protocol of GMPLS is used to resolve the problem of network topology discovery and routing for signaling message. And GMPLS extends the traditional routing protocol to enhance traffic-engineering capability.First of all, this paper introduced the basic concept of ION control plane, then analyzed the basic theory of OSPF routing protocol, and on this basis discussed traffic-engineering extensions to OSPF. At last elementary data structure, interface FSM module, neighbor FSM module and LSA creation module were introduced at length in this article.
