Ospf Routing Protocol Security Evaluation

OSPF(Open Shortest Path First) is a typical link status routing protocol based on SPF(Short Path First) algorism, and it is widely applied in the real telecommunication network nowadays.From this point the author analyzes the OSPF routing protocol and does research on the protocol and test of OSPF routing protocol, trying to find a communication facility to my institution. The result of research shows that it is very useful. It is also an experience for other people's study and research in this field.This thesis mainly analyzes the protocol realization of internal gateway protocol (IGP)―OSPF Version 2 which used in the backbone network. The details include the type of Link State Advertisement (LSA)and the Link State Database(LSDB), deeply analyzing SPF algorism of OSPF routing calculation. In practical terms the author put the emphasis on the protocol of OSPF Graceful Restart to less risk.This thesis focuses on OSPF V2 realization frame of alternative router, The main contribution of this thesis includes:the flow chart of OSPF main task,the process of OSPF packet , WaitTimer of OSPF protocol and interface event ,the redistribution of routing protocols and OSPF routing calculation.The author put emphasis on the requirement and system architecture of OSPF Graceful Restart protocol, also with the detailed design inclue the API interfaces ,the data structes and OSPF GR processes. Based on above analysis the author designed OSPF Protocol Testing System which have capacity with route flapping and distributing.OSPF Protocol Testing System used in the issue of performance and stability and have significance on researching of new protocol testing to my team.The security analysis and test method of OSPF Routing Protocol inclue:OSPF running on broadcast interface, authorized neighbor, routing calculation on summary network and virturl link network also with stub network and redistribute network.We put the emphasis on the LSA checking and breakdown restoration functions of OSPF Graceful Restart tests.SYNthesizing outcomes of OSPF design and GR protocol and real testing project of OSPF, we proposed a scheme which load tests with these OSPF security threats.
