Provided with reliable, securable, and economical capability, simulation is a comprehensive technique and does not limited by weather and field. It has been combined with people's daily life closely. Simulation technique is the most efficient means to shorten research cycle, improve research quality and cut down expenses. The visual simulation for the underwater vehicle has been built in this paper.It is necessary to built the integration simulation system for the development and research of the intelligent underwater vehicle. The visual simulation constructed in this paper is a most important portion of the whole simulation system. It displays the movement process of the vehicle in different conditions directly, thus bring lab assistants convenience to analyse the simulation process and result on-line.As for the visual simulation system, the model database including vehicle, submarine, terrain and mine, etc has been set up using the standard model software Multigen Creator. In SGI graphics station, the visual simulation of the vehicle has been set up using Vega. GUI has been developed to control and observe the movement of the vehicle in various points of view.The six-freedom motion simulation model of the vehicle has been built in this paper. By setting up the network communication, the PC port is connected with the SGI port and the motion simulation has been carried out in the visual scene.The system simulation shows that the visual simulation built in this paper satisfies the real-time requirement of the system. It has brought convenience for the control debug and achieved the interaction between the user and the visual scene.
