In this thesis, the main objective is to study real-time multimedia to transmit in the train LAN. At the beginning, the paper analyzes the shortages in the old train information system and the application level of train information system in the world. The paper detailedly analyzes some techeniques which is related to real-time multimedia transmitting including compressing techniques. It expatiates the theory and the class of compressing techniques. It detailedly analyzes the voice compressing technique(PCM) and the picture compressing technique (MPEG). It expatiates the compressing techniques which are used in the train LAN. Then the paper detailedly analyzes the requirement of network for real-time multimedia to transmit including bandwith, delay, QoS, credibility and multicast communication in the train LAN. It analyzes the system and protocol which is used in the train LAN . So as to real-time transmission, the paper contrastly analyzes the feasibility between TCP and UDP. It uses UDP to transmit multimedia in the train LAN. In the last, the paper designs the train LAN as a whole and detailedly analyzes all the segments of the train LAN . The paper achieves voice to broadcast in the train LAN and to dialog in the Internet on the side of software.
