The information industries leading by Internet will greatly affect and change the path of world economy and the way people live and work. In the field of mass media, the continuous spread out and fast upgrading of network technology with Internet in core and the appearing of new E-Media will greatly challenge and pound the traditional mass media with newspaper industry in front. As a wise responding strategy, the newspaper industry should actively adopt new and high technology, increase the high tech content in its hardware construction, form a modern operation system, and redesign its functions and styles to meet the needs of its readers. It is the only way out for the newspaper industry to survive the challenge of the technology revolution. In the age of knowledge economy, we should pay reasonable attention to the role of traditional information network while we are giving high value to the physical and logical network infrastructure facilities on which Internet is formed. In terms of physical network, the role of traditional information network is very important. By traditional information network, we mean the news collecting and distribution network and the fairly stable social relation network, which have been formed and operated by the traditional mass media including newspaper industryin the long period of practice and development. Its function of information collecting is essential to the mass media to realize cooperation with other industries on the Internet and will greatly benefit the rapid development of network economy as well. Therefore, the traditional media does have its own advantages in the combination with the Internet. To be specific, when the newspaper industry enters the stage of Internet, its unique features of pictured news and detailed accounts of news will make it more successful.
