Articles that particularly exist in English are one kind'form word'. They include a/an, the, and the zero article and are the most commonly used words in English. Despite high frequency and early input, English articles remain a widely recognized marked feature for learners, especially [-ART] learners. There is observational evidence that [-ART] learners of English experience immense difficulty in acquiring the English articles. There is always one article test question which contains two blanks in the National College Entrance Examination every year in our country. However, the rate of the correctness remains low in that the using of articles is more complicated, changeable and frequent . Articles are such complex grammatical phenomenon that it is hard for learners to grasp this grammatical item. Moreover, there are all kinds of misuses during the process of articles'acquisition thus for various reasons.For the poor acquisition and frequent misuse of the articles, the paper attempts to explore the phenomenon of misuse, to analyze the causes of errors, to summarize the types of errors and to form the evaluation by using the theory of error analysis as well as empirical studies. Starting from the errors and misuses existing in the examination papers, the writer tries to investigate on the article errors among the senior English learners. The investigating results show the more omission errors, the fewer confusion errors and the least redundancy errors. The omission errors results from the intra-transfer and the other two contribute to inter-transfer.Based on the theory of error analysis and articles, the paper tries to explore the problems of article error among senior English learners by the way the testing papers and teaching reflection. The writer hopes to investigate the causes and influences of the acquiring problems of articles so as to offer some referring advice to English teaching in senior high schools.
