Research On Honesty And Credibility Of College Students Who Major In Physical Education

By using literature, investigation and mathematical statistics, this paper researches into honesty and credibiiity behaviors and values of college students who major in physical education (P.E.).The subjects are college P.E. students from Southwest University. Xi'an Institute of Physical Education, Chongqing Normal University and Chongqing College of Arts and Sciences. The results are as follows:(1) Honesty and credibility behaviors of college P.E. students refer to behaviors characterized by honesty and credibility and revealed by college P.E. students when they live, study, work and do other things. Honesty and credibility behaviors are composed of political behaviors, learning behaviors, economic behaviors, communicating behaviors and working behaviors. Political honesty and credibility consists of two aspects, political rights and duties, and political party choosing; learning honesty and credibility contains course learning, testing, scientific research, honesty and credibility training, and honesty and credibility competition; economic honesty and credibility includes economic behaviors on campus, domestic economy behaviors and social economy behaviors; communicating honesty and credibility is composed of common communication, love communication and internet communication; working honesty and credibility is comprised of student work, employment and career choice, preparation for starting own business. Values of honesty and credibility are defined as interior standards and subjective views of treating honesty and credibility which gradually take shape when individual grow up. The values are used to set value goals, choose and execute means of values. They include four parts. goals. motivations. means and evaluation of honesty and credibility values. The goals are social orientation and individual orientation:external motivation and internal motivation are included in motivations of honesty and credibility values; the means are composed of emphasizing promises, white lies, keeping faith, no deception and honesty; the evaluation contains positive evaluation and negative evaluation.(2) Questionnaires are designed strictly in accordance with designing theories, principles and procedures of psychometrics. Under the guidance of ideal model, the paper decides on all dimensions and their variables, designs items according to different dimensions, and works out pre-tested questionnaires, then give out them to the P.E. Department of Southwest University. The collected data has been analyzed by descriptive statistics, factorial analysis, correlation analysis, regressive analysis and exploratory factor analysis. On the basis of discrimination index of items, population correlation and mutual correlation, the paper picks out unqualified items and remains qualified items. Many experts from Physical Education Department, Psychological Department, and Politics and Public Administration Department test their content validity. The results show the questionnaires are proper; mature questionnaires have been given out to Southwest University, Xi'an Institute of Physical Education, Chongqing Normal University and Chongqing College of Arts and Sciences. The results reveal that homogeneity coefficient of all college P.E. students in questionnaires of honesty and credibility behaviors is up to 0.918 and split-half reliability is 0.861; homogeneity coefficient of all college P.E. students in questionnaires of honesty and credibility values amounts to 0.881 and split-half reliability is 0.871. By SPSS, KMO of criterion validity of the questionnaires is obtained; KOM of honesty and credibility behaviors is 0.895 and KOM of honesty and credibility values is 0.905. The results indicate reliable criterion validity. It can be seen from correlation among different dimensions that all dimensions of questionnaires are hardly correlated with each other, but they are highly related with questionnaires, which reveals good construct validity.(3) the data from collected mature questionnaires indicates that there are significant difference among college P.E. students from different universities in honesty and credibility behaviors, and no difference in honesty and credibility values; different majors of college P.E. students significantly differ from each other in honesty and credibility behaviors and values; different grades show significant difference in both aspects; male students are significantly different from female students in honesty and credibility behaviors, and insignificantly different in honesty and credibility values; college P.E. students who are the only children in the family and who are not show significant difference in both aspects; college P.E. students from different family background are not significantly different from each other in both aspects; and there are insignificant difference among college P.E. students who are from different universities in behaviors, not in values. Honesty and sincerity behavior between both dimensions values were significantly correlated; Honesty and credit values all can behavior prediction dimension. (4) by analyzing the behaviors and values of honesty and credibility of college P.E. students. the paper suggests that universities or colleges should conduct the education programs of honesty and credibility starting from freshmen; education should pay special attention on special event; universities and colleges should expand channels for education programs about honesty and credibility.(5) And this paper should be improved in some aspects:the structure is needed to perfect and revise further; it would be best to enlarge the samples for questionnaires:the paper should supplement and improve the factors affecting the questionnaires.
