Study On The Reasons And The Countermeasures For The Lack Of Honesty Among Contemporary College Students

For a long time, the study on the lack of honesty among our college students usually from the viewpoint of ethics, credibility concept derived from moral ethics but constantly enrich and expand with the emergence and development of commodity economy, and now credibility concept become an important concept in economic category. Therefore, under the conditions of market economy, the research of the college students' credibility problems in the framework of institutional economics will be get a more realistic interpretation and a new idea of solving this problem.This paper from the perspective of institutional economics, argues that our college students' lack of honesty is that taking advantage of asymmetric information to make opportunistic behaviour for the pursuit of maximizing their own utility. The main factor for leading to acts of dishonesty is the institutions' imperfections and its constraints weakened, so college students' lack of honesty can not be resolved only through traditional credit education, the fundamental solution lies in institutions' innovation and its constraints strengthened. This paper builds game model and use both game theory and cost-benefit analysis to explain the formation of credibility, on this basis, also proposes two solutions:One is to change the traditional informal institution which beyonds our real life, that means to transform the ethical integrity into contract integrity. Anther is to improve the formal institution to the principle of information asymmetry, increasing dishonesty cost and decreasing expected return of dishonesty, including credit file system of college students, integrity awards and dishonesty penalties system, supervision system of honesty that will be uesful to the establishment of credit institution of college students in some degree.
