The synonymous rhetoric is one new branch of rhetoric, and the study about it starts from Russian linguistics. It is a lingual activity which aims at the synonymous contents, and estimates which one is better by comparing their differences on phonetician, vocable, grammar and other aspects, eventually in order to perfect the expression.This thesis discusses the synonymous rhetoric of shiji and hanshu. Since many pieces of article in shiji were followed by hanshu,they are synonymous on contents,but different on expressions. Some of differences are out of avioding absolute sameness, and the most parts are out of the authors different opinions about rhetoric, their different language styles,and different language—using habits in their living dynasty. Such differences produce different expression effects and reflect the two authors' distinct aesthetic appreciation.The thesis has been only selected the biographies of forty history figures from those synonymous article, being discussed the differences of expression, analyzed and evaluated those differences.
