Objective : To investigate the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and its risk factors of Uygur elder in rural He-tian,Xinjiang. Methods: Residents who were 60 years old or older were carried out face to face questionnaire. and lung ventilate function tests . the total of number were 342, the number of the male was 211(the average age of 76.37±9.93 years old),the number of female was 131(the average age of 74.76±9.24 years old).According to the COPD's diagnosed definition, 71 COPD patients were defined as the COPD group. 198 residents whose lung function well were defined as the control group. Results:In this survey,71 COPD cases were identified with a overall prevalence of 20.76%. The prevalence for male was 17.54%,and the female was 25.95%.Among the patients who had COPD,2.82% patients were I period of COPD, 90.14% were II period of COPD,7.04% were III period of COPD. II period of COPD were higher symptoms rate than other COPD patients .Only 51.22% reported lifetime diagnosis of COPD . Compare to control group ,lung function variables such as FEV1,FEV1%,FEV1/FVC% of the COPD group decrease, there were significiant differences(P<0.05).Multivariate analysis with logistic regression model showed that worse ventilation in kitchen room, smoking, lower BMI were predisposing factors for COPD. Conclusion:The prevalence of COPD of this populations were 20.76%,. The prevalence for male was 17.54%,and the female was 25.95%.II period of COPD were higher symptoms rate than other COPD patients . Only 51.22% reported lifetime diagnosis of COPD . worse ventilation in kitchen room ,BMI, smoking were predisposing factors for COPD.
