Objective:To investigate the expression of Plkl and PCNA in both normal ovarian tissue and epithelial ovarian cancer. To explore the possible role of Plkl in epithelial ovarian cancer and progression of tumor, and to provide experimental clues to a possible target for the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer.Methods:95 cases were confirmed by both pathology and surgery, including 80 cases with epithelial ovarian cancer(â… -â…¡20cases,III40cases, IV20cases),15 cases of normal ovarian tissue.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the differential expression of Plkl and PCNA in 95 cases.Results:1. The expression of Plkl:The positive expression rates in normal ovarian tissue and epithelial ovarian cancer were 6.7% and 61.2%. There were significant differences between normal ovarian tissue and epithelial ovarian cancer (P<0.01). The expression of Plkl in epithelial ovarian cancer increased with the increased stage. The expression of Plkl in stageâ…¢was higher than that in stageI-II(P<0.05),the expression of Plkl in stageâ…£was significantly higher than stageâ… -â…¢(P<0.01),and the expression of Plkl in stageâ…£was significantly higher than stageâ…¢(P< 0.01).The expression of Plkl was related with differentiation of epithelial ovarian cancer. There were differences between high, middle differentiation (P<0.05).There were significant differences between high and low differentiation (P<0.01),as well as between middle and low differentiation. In addition, the expressiom of Plkl was not associated with the ages and pathological types of epithelial ovarian cancer (both P >0.05). 2. The expression of PCNA:The positive expression rates in normal ovarian tissue and epithelial ovarian cancer were 0% and 76.3%. There were significant differences between normal ovarian tissue and epithelial ovarian cancer (P<0.01). The expression of PCNA was related with differentiation of epithelial ovarian cancer. There were differences between high, middle differentiation (P<0.05).There were significant differences between high and low differentiation (P<0.01),as well as between middle and low differentiation. In addition, the expressiom of PCNA was not associated with the stages, ages, and pathological types of epithelial ovarian cancer (both P>0.05).3. There was positive correlation with expression of Plkl and PCNA.(the Spearman's grade was 0.305,P<0.01)Conclusions:1. The expression of Plkl in epithelial ovarian cancer was higher than that in normal ovarian tissue and it increased with the stages and differentiation of cancer. It indicated that the pathogenesis and development of epithelial ovarian cancer was related with the expression of Plkl.2. The expression of PCNA in epithelial ovarian cancer was higher than in normal ovarian tissue and it increased with the differentiation of cancer. It suggested that the expression of PCNA could estimate the prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer, at least at some level.3. There was positive correlation between expression of Plkl and PCNA in epithelial ovarian cancer. It suggested that the high expression of Plkl could stimulate the malignant proliferation of tumor cells.
